Raw on a budget –
It can be expensive to live on raw food, I know that for sure. I am not doing that 100 % if I would live in a warm country where the fruits and veggies were in abundance in my garden all year around it would be another thing;) I am doing my best to eat aligned what my body wants, needs, what my wallet says yes to, and what is possible in my daily life puzzle. If I should estimate how much I am more or less every day on a 80 % raw diet. In this post I want to give you advice how to live more raw on a budget.
Use seeds instead of nuts
Sprout! And be creative how to use sprouts in different dishes, juices, smoothies
Brew your own kombucha ( that is so expensive to buy and so easy to make at home)
Make your own water kefir for good bacterias
Pick and dry nettles, flowers etc, to use as teas
Go on a Chaga hunt and harvest chaga to make tea and tinctures from
Use carob instead of cacao
Make your own oat milk
When it is season got or the wild green leaves instead of buying expensive salad leafs
Try to grow your foods even if you, as I do, live in an apartment we can grow tomatoes and herbs. Perfect to dry to use during winter
Sprout grains – as buckwheat, whole spelt etc.
Superfood may be expensive but they last a long time and are packed with nutrients. Instead of going crazy and buy every superfood you want go for one package at a time.
Make your own raw cakes and treats and nice creams – easy and yummy to have.
Use the greens on radishes, beets, carrots in salads, juices & smoothies
Make seed crackers in the dehydrator
Use root veggies, and make in the food processor to a rice shape
Buy in bulk and share with friends
Since the prices at groceries have became so high, especially on organic foods, make the best of the situation. It is better to eat fruit & veggies that is non-organic than not to do it, and it is better to eat fruit & veggies even if it cooked than not to do it. From all the books I have studied over the past 18 years that is a summary of them – try to increase whole, unprocessed food as much as you can to sustain a healthy and happy living. What is your best advice?
